Al Julian

Al Julian was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of the Hope Academy of Music as well as its most avid fundraiser. He was originally from Boston, MA. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return to Boston, he became involved full time in the recording industry, handling marketing and promotion for major record companies including Capitol Records. He was the founder of Improvisational Promotions and the Independent Media Service. He was the Eastern Manager for Concord Records for 18 years. He was also the founder of the Woody Herman Society and published its newsletter for over 20 years as a tribute to his long time friend, Woody Herman.
